History Camp “was founded in 2014 as a casual conference for adults from all walks of life . . . who are interested in and want to learn more about all aspects and eras of history.”

In the talk, “How English Witch-Hunting Manuals Guided New England’s Witch Trials, 1647-1697,” Josh and Sarah will focus on English texts describing methods to identify and prosecute witches, but the talk will also feature a short history of demonologies, pointing to that most infamou texts, the Malleus Maleficarum (The Hammer of Witches) and its precursors. The crux of the presentation will be the evidence available today that shows the New England colonists followed procedures outlined in English books.
CT Witch and Culture Fest
August 8-9, 2026
The Connecticut Witch Trial Exoneration Project will host a booth at the festival to share history and answer questions. The booth will be open throughout the festival, which runs August 8th and 9th from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Both days, at 2:30 PM EDT, memorial services will be held for the 11 victims who were executed in the Connecticut Witch Trials and an acknowledgement of all 33 victims named in HJ 34, the resolution which absolved them in 2023.
